 On Friday, February 9, 2007, CEC PRESENTED THE 2ND ANNUAL...              

Presenting Works of Local Seasoned and Emerging Artists held at:
        First Congregational UCC, Across the street from Grand Junction High School

      The evening event raised about $3,000 for CEC's low income counseling programs. SPONSORS lending their support to CEC with this event: Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, True Value Stores, GJ Free Press.  In addition, we received donations of food and beverages from:  Albertson's, Assist-2-Sell, B Finicky's, City Market, Cottonwood Liquors, Country Club Liquors, Fisher's Liquor Barn, La Bamba Mexican Restaurant, Omar's Catering, Safeway, and Target         THANKS TO OUR 26 ARTISTS, ALL WHO CAME AND DONORS OF ART IN THE SILENT AUCTION! Another GREAT SUCCESS! SPRING  May 4-5 2007--- We received a little over $1,000 in contributions for GREAT STUFF!  Thanks to everyone who contributed the "stuff" and to those who "scored" their new possessions!  And, thanks to our Board Members and other volunteers who made these efforts so successful!  And, Habitat for Humanity then carried away the left-overs for their store for free!

 IT TURNED OUT TO BE.. OUR FINAL ANNUAL DINNER-THEATER-SILENT AUCTION!  Were you there, SUNDAY--AUGUST 12th, 2007 at the Cabaret Dinner Theatre?  "SUGAR" was enjoyed by a good crowd!- - -the "Some Like it Hot" Musical by Julie Styne, Bob Merill & Peter Stone.                             We managed to raise over $11,000 (net) for the evening, which will provide for CEC counseling to individuals and families who otherwise would not be able to access or afford such professional services elsewhere in Mesa County.  THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!...to all who came and participated this evening. Our SPONSORS for this event included St. Mary's Hospital and Medical Center, Grand Junction Free Press, Callahan-Edfast Mortuary,  Williams Production RMT, Professional Transportation Brokers, Inc., Enstrom's Candies, Jeff Chandler State Farm,   Dr. Ivan Alkes, Attorney Randy Pearce, Dr. Jim Moore, Womens Health Care of Western Colorado, P.C.,and True Value Stores. Generous DONATIONS were received from many friends.

Sadly, with the closing of the Cabaret Dinner-Theatre, we won't be having another event like this...BUT, wait to see WHAT'S NEW in the Fall 2008!

 

            GREAT NEWS in 2007: Sister Barbara Aldrich, Mission Integration Coordinator, and Terry Wienburger, Vice President, Mission Integration & Organizational Effectiveness at St. Mary’s Hospital and Medical Center, present Penny Frankhouser, Executive Director of the Counseling and Education Center with a $20,000.00 check from the St. Mary’s Mission Fund for 2007-2008.
               This money will be used to provide counseling services to residents of Mesa County who are in need of CEC’s services but cannot afford insurance or are underinsured. Mr. Terry Wienburger stated this award will help to serve many of individuals in need of emotional support who are also served by St. Mary’s programs.

  October 2007: $1,000 was awarded to CEC by Wells Fargo Bank for treatment of low income clients.

ANOTHER 2007 AWARD: Kiwanis Club of Grand Junction: $1,250 for treatment with young children from low-income families.

As part of CEC's 25-Year Anniversary Celebration, we held our Annual Dinner-Theater-Silent Auction at the Cabaret Dinner Theatre in September 2006...
