Since, I was young, I have been astounded by the amount of suffering that human existence entails. When considering how to spend my limited energy in this world, there is nothing that seems more worthwhile than the pursuit of alleviating that suffering to any extent possible. While much of my work focuses on the betterment of our community, the most profound impacts I have experienced are sitting in 1on1 therapeutic setting. I believe the work done in a therapy room ripples far and wide into our society.
Experience: How do you approach your therapy: I believe that our ways of perceiving the world and acting within have been developed out of necessity from our experiences and that behaviors that may have once allowed us to survive at times can hold us back from really thriving. My goal is to create a space where each person can understand both the strengths and the consequences of these patterns and be empowered to adapt their understanding and behavior as desired to build new experiences of contentment and life satisfaction.
Details: What are your qualifications (degree, license, years of experience, settings): I have a Bachelor’s in Sociology from the University of Arizona and a Master’s Degree in International Disaster Psychology from the University of Denver – a program that focused how to help individuals and communities heal from traumatic experience both locally and globally. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) I have been working in non-profit, outpatient mental health settings for nearly a decade.
Specialties (Clinicians Only): What type of work do you love doing: I specialize in and enjoy Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) & Ego States therapy. I most particularly enjoy helping parents break cycles of intergenerational issues so that their children can grow up with a different experience than they had.
