Counseling for You

Deep-Rooted Healing That Feels Like Home

Starting therapy can feel like a big step. At CEC, we’ve spent 45 years making that step a little easier. Our therapists are warm, down-to-earth, and focused on one thing: helping you actually feel better. No jargon. No judgment. Just real support, right here in the Grand Valley.

Real healing takes time, and we’re built for the long haul. Our model is weekly appointments with the same therapist for as long as you need, whether that’s 6 months or 6 years. No session caps. No eligibility requirements. No starting over with someone new every few months. Just consistent, trusted relationships that give change room to actually happen.

Our therapists hold Master’s degrees and bring decades of combined experience to your care. Our clinical supervisors go through 45 hours of training, well beyond the state’s 6-hour requirement, so even our newest therapists are backed by serious expertise. We also see low staff turnover, which means you’re more likely to stay with the same therapist and build the kind of relationship where they actually know your story. Our clinicians specialize in evidence-based trauma treatment, including EMDR.

Our main location is a beautifully restored historic home on Patterson Road, with comfortable, private therapy rooms built for the kind of emotional safety deep work requires. We also see clients at our Orchard Mesa location, serving Orchard Mesa, Whitewater, and Delta. Every detail, down to the last room, is designed to help you feel welcomed and safe.

Our care extends into the community too, through partnerships with Mutual Aid Partners Distribution and Pathways Family Shelter.

We welcome individuals, children, adolescents, couples, and families of all backgrounds. Our trauma-informed specialists help clients navigate:

  • Trauma and PTSD recovery
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Life transitions and major stressors
  • Relationship and family concerns
  • Grief and loss
  • Recovery from crime victimization
  • Childhood abuse and neglect

We accept Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance, and offer sliding scale fees based on income for clients who are uninsured or underinsured. Some clients pay as little as $15 a session. We believe money should never be the reason someone can’t get the care they need.

Insurances accepted: UHC, Rocky Mountain Health Plans, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, UMR, Medicare, Aetna, Monument Health, Select Health

Current rates: $160 per session, $170 for an intake

What Our Clients Say

My weekly sessions at the Counseling & Education Center helped me to focus on the underlying issues at hand. I felt safe, understood, and hopeful with the various techniques used in my tailored healing process…I learned to forgive myself for heinous acts that I sustained at the hands of horrible people. The shame and pain slowly diminished and I became stronger and more confident…I learned what it is to value myself.
