POSITION SUMMARY: In accordance with CEC Employee and Agency Policies and Procedures, this position
will provide quality mental health services, which involves individual/child/family counseling, documentation,
evaluations, and reports when necessary. In addition, this position will provide intentional and effective supervision to masters-level interns and pre-licensure candidates following the Noeticus Training Triangle™
model. This position can either be full or part-time but is expected to maintain a clinical caseload of
individuals, family, or couples. A full-time schedule consists of 36 hours and offers 28 client
appointments/week. A reduction in caseload will be provided and determined by the number of supervisees this position oversees.

Supervises: Mental Health Clinical Interns and Pre-Licensure Candidates
Pay rate: $72,700.16 annually (full-time, exempt, salary)

MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provides individual and/or family therapy and maintains clear, accurate client records.
• Actively participates in Feedback Informed Treatment and the utilization of My Outcomes.
• Participates in developing relationships with university programs including completing any necessary training and applications.
• In collaboration with the Executive Director, Clinical Director, and Supervisor Team, participates in interviewing, hiring, problem solving, and dismissing clinical interns and pre-licensure staff.
• Assists in planning and facilitating annual internship orientation and any additional training needed.
• Forms thorough and clear supervisory agreements with every supervisee, maintains notes of all supervision and records of hours of supervision provided.
• Evaluates supervisees in terms of quality care for clients and best practice interventions. This includes completing any requested evaluations from an intern’s degree program.
• Provides regular, scheduled supervision of interns and pre-licensure candidates as assigned. The supervision will result in active billing of work completed by interns and candidates as allowed through this position’s credentialing with insurances.
• Supports the supervisee in achieving requirements of degree program and/or license.
• Reviews and signs off on all documentation completed by the supervisee, ensuring client records are clear, up to date, and meet regulatory standards.
• Works with supervisory team to provide administrative and clinical support to all interns and pre-licensure staff, including ensuring that interns are never providing clinical services without a licensed clinician in the building.
• Participate in a 24/7 emergency services coverage rotation.
• Promotes the philosophy and mission of the Counseling and Education Center.
• Performs other related job duties as needs arise.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Active LCSW license in Colorado without restrictions, conditions, or stipulations from DORA for at least two years.
• Must have at least three years’ post-licensure clinical experience in a mental health setting providing
direct client counseling.
• Must have gone through or be willing to attend the 45-hour Noeticus Clinical Supervisor training.
• Enrolled with Health First Colorado (Medicaid) and serving Medicaid clients
• Completed and current CAQH profile
• Must have proof of Malpractice Insurance
• Have proof of “No danger to children” with fingerprint results.
NOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
• Ability to make good decisions based on CEC philosophy and procedures
• Experience in supervisory duties, understands the legal and ethical requirements for mental health counselors in Colorado, and can provide supervision, encouragement, and help to supervisees.
• Knowledge of modern counseling practices and methods, which are guided by evidence of best
professional practices.
• Ability to communicate with people with varied lifestyles and other staff members.
• Ability to work as a team member.
• Ability to form and maintain effective counseling client relationships.
• Ability to effectively communicate in writing and to prepare written documents.
• Ability to respond to emergency situations in a correct and timely manner.

CEC has committed to training 10 interns per year, split between fall and spring start dates.
CEC offers an unpaid internship, however there is a program through Work Force Services that offers funding for interns who financially qualify.
CEC provides learning opportunities for:
Individual counseling: CEC mainly provides individual therapy. You will receive training and supervision to help you provide effective therapy. Your caseload will eventually build up to 12 weekly clients (or more depending on school requirements). Most clients are adults, but the opportunity to work with children is available as well. You will be provided with training and supervision to take on one child and one adolescent client during your time with us, but you can see more if you find you enjoy working with that population.
Family/couples counseling: We partner with a local marriage and family agency to provide consultation/training for couples and family work. During your internship you will be expected to see at least one or two couples or families. If you enjoy that work, you may certainly ask for more.
What your caseload will look like: you will be seeing mostly adults, and (eventually) at least one each of a child, adolescent, and couple or family.
Group counseling: We also partner with Project 127 to participate in the EchoFlex group (https://www.echoflextoolkit.org) which provides support and resiliency for adoptive families. Each intern will help co-facilitate one of the 8-week groups, which has been held in the evenings over one to two nights, for about 3 hours per week. Sometimes it has just been virtual, sometimes it has been one night in person and one night virtual per week. It is up to them how they run it for the 8 weeks.
Internal collaboration and training: At our weekly staff meeting we rotate between staffing difficult cases, participating in Feedback Informed Treatment (FIT) supervision, Agency updates, and therapy-related training.
Local collaboration: We are members of groups and councils in Grand Junction and attend monthly meetings. To a more limited degree, an intern could be a representative for our agency by attending a monthly meeting and giving and taking information on what they do and how we can be involved. Community Work: In your second semester, we will aim to place you at a community partner site for half to a whole day per week. This placement will be vetted and approved by all parties before placement.
Job Description for Mental Health Counselor/Social Work Intern

EDUCATION AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Participation in a Master’s Degree in Counseling, Family and Marriage Counseling, and or Social Work from an accredited or CACREP equivalent University
Must have proof of Malpractice Insurance and “No danger to children” fingerprint results
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:
Knowledge of modern counseling practices and method, which are guided by evidence of the best professional practices
Knowledge of existing professional ethical and legal standards
Knowledge of good customer service and excellent people skills
Ability to use a computer and other technology including cloud-based systems.
Ability to make good decisions based on CEC philosophy and procedures
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Attend Intern Orientation and complete all required trainings
Attend weekly supervision and staff meeting
Provide individual therapy and maintain a designated caseload

ABOUT THE AGENCY: The Counseling and Education Center (CEC) is a non-profit organization beginning it’s 43rd year of service to our community. CEC provides mental health counseling to anyone in need. There are no eligibility requirements and through access of a sliding scale work with people who have no insurance or are underinsured. Services for people ages 3 to 70+
