Motivation: Why do you do this work (why did you start, why do you stay
I am a lifelong learner and educator pivoting to a career in mental health to put my diverse skills to use and support the communities I love. I believe in the power of counseling to discover, heal, empower, and enhance lives. I am fascinated and honored to be a part of clients’ journeys toward improved mental health and life satisfaction.
Experience: How do you approach your therapy
I am analytical by nature and love digging in to help clients wrestle with the issues that bring them to counseling. I use mindfulness techniques, emotional awareness, and concepts from interpersonal neurobiology to help clients understand, tolerate, and move through difficult times. Above all, I believe in getting to know each client well, building a solid therapeutic relationship, and empowering clients to uncover and utilize their unique strengths and abilities.
Details: What are your qualifications (degree, license, years of experience, settings) I have a master’s degree in sociology, 10 years as a bilingual elementary school teacher, and experience in public affairs. Counseling is a career shift for me that lets me utilize the skills and knowledge I’ve acquired over the years. I am currently completing my degree in clinical mental health at Adams State University.
Specialties (Clinicians Only): What type of work do you love doing I love working with any individual who is motivated and brave enough to work toward building a healthy, joyful, and meaningful life. I appreciate helping young adults navigate the challenges of stepping powerfully into adulthood. I love working with elementary-aged children. And I want to support women of all ages, especially any who are struggling with the many demands of motherhood, work, relationships, life transitions, and how to balance it all.
